K&N Air/Fuel
Ratio Monitors
Modified your engine?
Problems with mixture settings?
Too weak?
Too rich?
K&N have the answer....
The K&N Air/Fuel Monitor is a
precision instrument to help the performance enthusiast with jetting problems that occur
when changes are made to an engine, or to increase performance. This device will work on
carburettor, injected, supercharged, turbocharged, or normally aspirated engines, using
unleaded petrol, alcohol, propane or nitrous oxide. It will not work with nitromethane or
diesel fuels and is not designed to work with leaded petrol.
The function of an oxygen sensor in a modern engine is to measure the amount of
oxygen present in the exhaust gas and send a message, via electrical current, to the
vehicle's computer. The computer then alters the fuel delivery to create the air/fuel
ratio that is programmed in to it.

What this technology does for the performance
enthusiast is allow the oxygen sensor to be used as a testing device to aid in jetting
internal-combustion engines for peak performance, economy or best driveability. The
K&N Air/Fuel Monitor can tell the tuner at a glance what the approximate air/fuel
ratio of the engine is, at any given moment under any load or throttle setting.
The display of the monitor is made with 10 LED lights. Each light represents a
slightly richer mixture. The approximate air/fuel ratios vary for different fuels, but the
sensor measures oxygen left in the exhaust gas, regardless of what fuel is used, so the
number of lights to use for power or economy remains the same.

There are two styles of monitors to choose from.
The original Rectangle surface mount unit mounts on any flat surface with an attached
pedestal, ideal for motorcycles or quick testing. The NEW Round "In-dash" unit
mounts in a 5cm hole like a standard automotive gauge for a permanent professional look.

The installation requires a minor bit of
welding. The sensor fitting must be welded to the exhaust pipe as close as possible to the
engine. The sensor will not operate properly until it heats up to 600° F. The sensor
should be located where it will "read" all of the engine's cylinders, or at
least a complete bank on V engines. An additional sensor may be mounted in dual exhausts
and activated with a toggle switch. Power supply required is 9 volts minimum, and the
sensor must be grounded to the power supply, either through the engine ground, or with a
direct wire if the engine is not grounded to the power source.
